Seriously... almost 3?

It's happening.  The feeling every parent gets when they have a clear vision of just how fast their baby is growing up.  Catherine is closer to kindergarten than she is to birth.  This is hard to swallow.  In just one short month she will be three and then it's off to college.

Not really, but some days it feels that way.

We have been having a lot of fun this June.  Catherine, just like the rest of us, gets very sweaty in the Texas sun.  We will be at a park for 5 minutes and she will look like she went swimming.  I put tons of sun screen on her but the freckles are still accumulating.  Like many second children, her parents never actually take out the real camera to take photographs.  Thankfully, my iPhone takes pretty good pics.

Take Off

Logan and Catherine's friendship is starting to take off and soar to higher places.  They are learning so much each day and exploring every inch of every thing and they are very much a team now.  Well, at least when they are not fighting!

Conversation in Car today:

Logan- Hey Catherine, what do you want to be when you get older?
Catherine- I am going to grow up and be hello kitty.
Logan- You can't be hello kitty because she does not do anything.
Catherine- (VERY LOUD ALMOST SCREAMING) I can be hello kitty and I will be hello kitty. (Very determined 2 year old)
Me- Logan, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Logan- A fireman who puts out fire emergencies.  And mom, when you grow "all the way up" you need to be a pilot so eat your carrots.

Conversation earlier in the week:

Logan- Catherine is Godzilla! (laughing while stating it)
Catherine- No Logan, I am not Godzilla.  He is a monster.  I am not a monster.
Brian and I were laughing out loud on that one because we did not even know they knew anything about Godzilla.

These two can make planes out of anything at all.  Once they make the plane and fight over who is pilot they take off to all sorts of places and towns.  They converted the diaper changing table for Catherine's dolls to a biplane.  They converted the bob to a military plane and brought drills from Logan's tool set to use as guns.  Have no idea where they have learned about guns.

This is a fun chapter and we are loving every minute of it.

20/20

I am getting Lasik tomorrow and I am super excited!  I have been wearing contacts since 6th grade.  A long time.  I don't even know what I am going to do with myself once I have all this extra time in my day.  I let the kids wear my eyeglasses for a special photo shoot.  The lenses were so strong they could barely open their eyes.  Logan told me earlier he is happy I am getting new eye balls and wanted to know where the old ones were going....the things we talk about.

Galveston

Back in February I told the kids we were going to the beach in May.  They did not exactly understand the concept that we were three months out and every morning for days, weeks, and months, Catherine woke up asking if today was the day we were going to the beach.  It was very cute the first two days and then after that it got real old!

And to no surprise, time flew by and our departure weekend had arrived in the blink of an eye.  Logan and Catherine were elated.  We spent two nights down in Galveston and had a great time.  Galveston is not exactly known for crystal clear waters and beautiful sand, but it is a great weekend get away from Houston.

Logan and Catherine thought they were in the Bahamas as they did not discriminate against seewead and dark water.  In their minds a beach is a beach, and there is something to be said for that.  They played for hours on the beach and admired the wind, sand, birds, boats, and even the ebb and flow of the tides.  It was a fun weekend and we wish we could have stayed longer.
