Catherine is a me do/ I do/ leave me alone mom child. She wants me to be there with her but she wants to do absolutely everything herself. While I am excited to have a confident kid who will not hesitate to communicate her feelings, there are times where I really just need her to understand that my answer is not going to change. I realize this may just be the case for a while.
Our conversations often include discussing what letters are used to spell a word. Most of the time she agrees with me but sometimes she flat out spells, or attempts to spell, things her own way. This does not bother me but it does bother Logan. She is into rhyming words but is confused sometimes. Just today she was saying taco rhymes with taco salad. I was trying to explain to her that those are technically the same word but she was not having it. Dog park rhymes with dog. Football rhymes with foot.
Her absolute favorite thing in the world is Winston. She adores him and is constantly taking care of Ton. This includes feeding, bathing, walking, educating, disciplining, and dressing. She likes all pets she comes into contact with and often talks about them in reference to Winston. We were cat sitting the other day and she wanted to know if Onyx (the neighbor's cat) went to the same school as Winston.
Cat enjoys playing school. She is the teacher and reads to all of her animals and then puts them all down for naps.
On Wednesdays we both play basketball at the Y. After my workout, we go into the gym which is empty and roll basketballs in every possible direction. Then we run, skip, jump, and even walk backwards to retrieve them. If you get confused about the rules to this game, fear not as Catherine will correct you. She loves to listen to the echo that her voice makes and it is precious.
Her favorite board game is currently a Hello Kitty game. All you do is spin a wheel and it lands on an article of clothing and you dress your HK accordigly. I personally CAN NOT STAND this game. Catherine is not very consistent at following these rules and can get quite upset if things don't roll her way. We often have to put the game up seconds after we begin.
She is a great partner at the grocery store 65% of the time. We are trending in a positive direction so this is good.
We enjoy dining together and sneak in a lot of lunches during the week. It is truly a blessing to share these one on one meals with her. I realize that it won't be long until she won't have to ask what the menu says or why the bird outside can't come in and sit with us.
